The story with the "Proximus" Commercial

OK, this job for Proximus (cell phone company in Belgium), was probably one of the most interesting we've ever been involved in. It will be a long time before we see the completed project because the spot itself has 3 phases. Allow me to explain...

Phase 1) Tony and I go to Belgium and direct a commercial. If all goes according to plan, this commercial is never seen. Weird, right? Well the reason is is that...

Phase 2)
The entire commercial is rotoscoped (turned into a line animation), and that, with an explanation is aired on TV, cinema, online etc... Which brings me to...

Phase 3)
Users/viewers/anyone is invited to pick or frame (or better yet, multiple frames!) and recreate them. Some scenes take place in specific locations in Brussels, but others are more generic.

So basically when the commercial is done we are left with a spot containing 100's of people in 100's of different places, essentially recreating the original commercial we shot in phase 1. Pretty cool, right?!?

Perhaps this image will explain.

As you can see phase 3 has not yet been completed. Hell, phase 2 hasn't even aired yet. I'll post it when it shows up online (I think it's in a few weeks?), and if you are interested check out the site (I'll post that when I have it as well), and recreate some frames!
